Despite their popularity with viewers, grey horses winning the National is quite uncommon.
The last grey to win the Grand National was Neptune Collonges in 2012.
Since then, the appeal of a grey getting over the line has increased ever since.

The rarity of winners is primarily due to their small population in comparison to the rest.
Chestnut, bay, brown and black are the most predominant of colours for a racehorse.
But still, every year we see a scattering of grey take on the 4m2f course.
Just three ran in the 2022 renewal out of the total 40 runners and this year is also looking to have just a handful.

There are just FOUR grey horses with a chance of running in the 2024 Grand National.
This year's renewal sees 34 runners for the first time in a bid to better the welfare of the horses.
Fewer runners couple with a higher restriction for only a certain ratings of horses to qualify should translate to fewer fallers, unseated riders and those pulling up.
